The Challenge:

Our client engaged us to design and manufacture a tool to provide an effective, yet cost-efficient method of recovering a damaged wellhead debris cap by ROV. The debris cap had sustained impact damage, leaving the original ROV recovery handle compromised and liable to failure.

What We Did:

Astrimar developed a carefully thought-out solution to the problem. The recovery tool was designed to evenly distribute the lift force across the debris cap and provide a level lift. Equispaced T-handles provided a means for the ROV to lock the tool to the debris cap and eliminate risk of detachment. ROV accessibility was considered throughout the design to ensure maximum usability.
