David Saul to present free webinar on “Recognizing Your Hidden Obsolescence Risks”
Astrimar Chief Consultant David Saul is to present a free webinar, delivered through the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology.
The focus of the webinar will be around ‘hidden’ obsolescence risks. For long cycle industries such as maritime and energy, the focus of obsolescence management is often on the obvious big-ticket items. That is good as a starting point but often ancillary items which are key to system operation are missed. To compound this system integrators will often look to minimise costs by sourcing existing parts from other industries based on shorter life cycles.
The webinar will start by providing a short introduction into the core elements of obsolescence management before moving on to look at why hidden obsolescence is a growing problem for long cycle industries and what we can learn from others such as railway and aviation. The webinar will finish by presenting a basic process flow for obsolescence risk identification
The webinar will include case examples and case studies, together with an introduction to the International Institute of Obsolescence Management (IIOM) where David is a Fellow.
